Created by a world-class foot doctor who works with professional athletes and top drum corps, the Crossover has a mechanical advantage over any other athletic shoe.

The Crossover by DSI, the first and only athletic shoe designed specifically for drum corps and marching band.  It has already been tested by many college marching bands and drum corps.   The Crossover has been proven superior to other "athletic" shoes from the biggest name brands out there. The Crossover Shoe by DSI was created by a world-class foot doctor, Dr. Tom Freeman.  Doctor Freeman has worked (and still works) with top drum corps and professional athletes.  The Crossover presents a mechanical advantage over all other athletic shoes. Advantages:

  • The Crossover is the first athletic shoe with a marching band sole incorporated into it.
  • Mesh on the upper enables the shoe to breathe and keep your feet cool.
  • A supportive heel holds your foot in place and keeps your foot stable
  • “Tendon Fit” wraps around your mid-foot and secured by the laces for unmatched support
  • All rubber non-marking, non-slip sole performs on any surface
  • The Flex Groove heel strikes the ground cleanly and allows for a smooth transition to the forefoot
  • The midsole is carved out 35mm to allow for plenty of room for your spats
  • Heel Lock Eyelet keeps your foot in place and helps prevent injuries

Don't believe us?   Well how about we let performers tell you what they love about the DSI Crossover Shoe:

How Did The Crossover Shoe Come To Be?

Great question!  The Crossover was developed from the needs of marching performance group just like yours.  A group went to DSI requesting a shoe that mimicked the performance of a marching performance shoe (like the MTX Marching Shoes or Viper Marching Shoes) but designed more for rehearsal.   It also needed to have a price point that was more competitive than the big name brands (Nike etc.) their kids were currently rehearsing in. In other words, they wanted a shoe designed for marching and priced for practice. DSI took on the challenge and partnered with Dr. Tom Freeman, an orthopedic doctor with experience working with top athletes.  More specifically, Dr. Freeman has years of experience working with drum corps and marching bands.  Dr. Freeman came up with the basics of what the "perfect" marching band show would include. Here's Dr. Freeman discussing some of the results he and DSI came up with in the Crossover Shoe:

What Does This Mean for Me?

dsi-crossover-shoe-sketches.jpg

It means you get a show that is durable (anecdotal evidence has a single pair lasting the entire season) that is specifically designed for the unique moves used in marching band and drum corps.  After all, most sneakers are designed for one thing: running forward.  That doesn't match up at all with how a student uses their marching shoe on a daily basis. Oh, and the price point compared to those running shoes?   About half.   The Crossover retails for $49.95 compared to $80 up to $150 or more for the big name brand sneakers (which also need to replaced 2-4 times a year as the student uses them for EVERYTHING not just marching). At WGT we are THRILLED to be offering this new and unique shoe.  DSI put more than two years into the development of this shoe and it shows.
